WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
We are currently recruiting Rotary Wing Head of Training & Checking (HOTAC) to be part of our team.
The chosen candidate will work in a team environment conducting operational duties as well as training and checking responsibilities associated with aerial firefighting and flood response, crew/equipment transport, reconnaissance, search and rescue, disaster mitigation and related operations in support of emergency services. They must have a strong focus on safety and customer service.
The role requires flexibility and working away from home base at short notice and offers competitive salary and an emphasis on work/ life balance on offer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that Coulson Aviation complies with each provision of the civil aviation legislation that relates to the qualifications, training or checking of the operator’s flight crew and report to the head of flying operations on compliance;
- Establish and manage training procedures, documents and material associated with flight activities conducted by the organisation and ensure that training and checking of flight crew is standardised and conducted in accordance with approved Training and Checking System;
- Establish and manage training and checking schedules of company flight crew to ensure compliance with Part 61 and company Recency requirements;
- Develop and build training and checking capabilities to suit the company operations;
- Undertake training and checking duties in a flying role and effectively manage training and checking personnel appointed to the organisation, so that it functions smoothly and efficiently;
- Liaise and manage external training providers used in the facilitation of company training and checking
Experience Requirements:
- Australian CPL(H)
- 5000 hrs. Rotary Experience
- Australian Class 1 Medical
- Low Level Firefighting rating
- Low Level Sling Load Rating
- Low Level Winch Rating
- Minimum 3 year and 500 hours experience in remote area and unimproved landing area operations.
- Minimum 3 year and 500 hours background in Part 138 Aerial work operations including firefighting and/ or SAR EMS Operations
- Demonstrated experience in operational and organizational management.
- Experience managing administrative duties of this or similar roles
- The right to live and work in Australia
Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
- NVIS Rating
- Multi Engine Instrument Rating
- CASA Part 61 Instructor / Examiner privileges
